“I was dead on scene but I think I would be dead for good if it wasn’t for him,” Marley Mercer said.
It was back in May when Marley Mercer was run over by a vehicle and died on scene, but thanks to the quick actions of Abilene Officer Don Allen, Marley was revived and immediately rushed to the hospital. But she didn’t get to meet the man who brought her back to life and sadly she never will.
Officer Allen was murdered while off duty Monday night in Abilene. His funeral was Friday morning.
“I’m so grateful for that but I’m so sad that he’s gone, like, I wish he was still here, I wish that I can see him and talk to him,” Mercer said.
“She might not be here right now so you know I’ve got internal gratitude for what he did and that he just kept on, and kept on giving,” Emily Narayan, Marley’s mom said.
Marley’s mom said not only did he do his job but Officer Allen stayed at the hospital attending to her younger daughter and providing some comfort during an unimaginable time.
“He was really kind, and he sat with me and you know he just got right in there and continued to give of himself and our situation and he didn’t have to do that,” Narayan said.
And although tragedy brought death to Officer Allen, Marley Mercer is breathing because of his life.
