No Explosives Found in Curry County Suspicious Package

Friday, January 26, 2018 at approximately 2:00 PM, a suspicious package was observed on the ground outside the law library building, adjacent to the Curry County courthouse.

The courthouse was evacuated 

The Clovis Police, Fire and Public Works Departments, closed a two-block radius of the area was closed. 

A Cannon Air Force Base Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was dispatched to the scene to assess the package. 

It was determined that the package, which had been deliberately
disguised as a bomb, contained no explosives. 

The scene was declared safe at approximately 5:30 PM.

Earlier that morning, the Ninth Judicial District Court received a telephonic threat. It is unknown if the threat to the court and the package are related. 

Investigations are being conducted into both incidents to identify the person or people responsible.

Anyone with information concerning either incident is asked to contact the Curry County Sheriff’s Office or Curry County Crime Stoppers.
