President Trump is expected to sign an executive order Tuesday addressing the issue of suicide among war veterans.
It is estimated that 20 US veterans take their lives every day.
The “president’s roadmap to empower veterans and end a national tragedy of suicide” will reportedly give agency officials one year to develop plans that will approach suicide prevention more aggressively with a focus on the state and local communities.
The task force will also be given the opportunity to continue research in the mental health field to better understand post-traumatic stress disorder and other illnesses affecting our returning troops.
It is unclear how much money the government will spend on these efforts.
