In Washington for Senators Cornyn and Cruz lots of people are coming to visit this week. The topic is health and they’re aren’t very happy.
Evany Turk joined more than 100 protestors headed to Capitol Hill.
Dozens crowded into the offices of Texas senators.
Protestors say they won’t give up on Obamacare without a fight. For GOP senators it’s a totally different battle.
Health Analyst Matthew Fielder says senators like Cruz have different goals.
Fielder said, “Many republican senators feel very strongly about maintain protections for people with pre-existing conditions which the Cruz amendment would’ve significantly weakened. So I think there would be some political upside in the perspective of the Republican caucus but also some political downside.”
To Turk it’s personal. She has HIV. She is angry at Senator Cruz for offering an amendment that would have her pay more.
“He doesn’t care that we have pre-existing conditions and he doesn’t care if we die and we don’t vote our Senators in for them not to care what basic human rights are,” says Turk.
Turk was among those arrested by Capitol Police
