“Show The World Who My Son Was”


(NBC News) As investigators continue their work in Highlands Ranch, Colorado following Tuesday’s school shooting, the suburban Denver community torn apart by the attack is also looking for answers and honoring the students who stood up in the face of evil.

Senior Kendrick Castillo traded his life for the safety of his friends and teachers, leading a charge that included classmates three other classmates, including Brendan Bialy.

“Why in the world would I let this coward get what he wants? I’m not a victim I, I refuse to be a victim. Kendrick refused to be a victim,” Bialy says.

AS friends mourn Castillo, his father says his only child died exactly as he lived.

“He would not let somebody get hurt, if he had anything to do with it. If he had to be there to protect somebody, that’s what he was going to do,” John Castillo says.
