The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson takes a tour of a house in Austin, Texas that’s about as high-tech as you can get.
A company – known as Icon – used 3D computer printing technology to produce the house.
The scientific approach really cuts costs.
Icon company officials say the printed portion of the model home Carson toured only took about two days to build, at a cost of around $10,000.
It’s the only house of its type the company has constructed so far.
Carson says his focus is to help get low-income families into good housing.
The HUD Secretary says his agency is interested in this type of home because “it’s very inexpensive and extremely quick and appears to be quite solid.”
