Canyon High alumnus, Michael Stigler hurdles his way into the Olympic trials and this isn’t his first time to try and qualify for the Olympic team.
Four years ago Michael Stigler fell short of making a spot on the hurdling team.
His best friend says he placed sixth and Olympic trials officials ended up taking the top four.
But this time around, his friends and former coaches say he has a great chance of making it.
” Watching what he did over the next four years making it to the winning the Big 12 and making it to the NCAA Championship and finally winning his senior year, it’s no surprise at all. It’s something he talked about maybe quietly with just a few people but it’s always been a goal of his and i don’t think anybody that knows Mike doubted that this would happen,” said Todd Winfrey, Canyon High Assistant Head Coach.
Michael graduated from the University of Kansas last year and his best friend says he did so well in hurdling that Adidas gave him a deal.
Adidas will be sponsoring Michael this summer, the Olympic trials kick off in July in Eugene, Oregon.
Stigler competes in the prelims on July 7th.
If he places there, he moves on to the semifinals on July 8th, then the finals on the tenth.
