A statue of NBA champion, Hall of Famer, and West Texas A&M University legend Maurice Cheeks has been placed outside of the First United Bank Center.
Maurice Cheeks, or “Mo Cheeks” as he’s called, played basketball at WT for four seasons before going to the NBA.
During his time as a Buffalo, he averaged more than 11 points a game and had his jersey number, #10, retired.
While in the NBA, he played in four all-star games and won a championship in 1983 with the Philadelphia 76ers.
