Many teens check their phones in the middle of the night

Move over, teddy bears, there’s a new sleeping buddy in town.

Nearly one-third of teenagers sleep with their smartphones or tablets in bed.

This according to a new survey published Tuesday by the nonprofit Common Sense Media.

Researchers finding about 70 percent of teens check their phones in the half hour before bed and parents are just as bad with more than half admitting they spend too much time with their tech gadgets.

Sleep experts say this is a troubling trend as many studies have linked screen time to sleep trouble which can lead to a number of health problems.

If you want to catch some quality z’s, researchers recommend forgetting about your device once you turn off the lights.
