An Oregon man pleads guilty to abandoning and partially burying a baby alive in the woods.
33-year-old Francis Crowley entering his plea at the Missoula district court this week.
Prosecutors say he was under the influence of meth and bath salts when he took a five-month-old child in his care and partially buried the baby under sticks and debris near Lolo Hot Springs in Montana.
Crowley and the baby’s mother were camping near the area at the time.
Other campers called the police to the scene after noticing the baby with them had gone missing.
Authorities later finding the child face down in wet clothing.
They estimate the baby had been left alone in the woods for at least nine hours.
Remarkably, the child survived and has since fully recovered.
Crowley, who plead guilty to criminal endangerment and child criminal endangerment, also entered a “no contest” plea to the assault on a child charge.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 12th.
