An Amarillo man is killed after a car wreck this weekend.
Amarillo Police say it happened Saturday around two a.m. on the 5300 block of West I-40’s South Frontage Road.
Police say David Christopher Lewis was a passenger in car going eastbound entering I-40 just east of Bell when the driver lost control entering the highway.
The vehicle rolled and went up the embankment.
Lewis was ejected and died at the scene.
An autopsy has been ordered.
The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say speed and alcohol are factors in the crash.
Police also believe the passenger not wearing a seatbelt played a role in the severity of his injuries.
The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department.
