Man dead after alleged deputy-involved shooting in Quanah

QUANAH (KFDX/KJTL) – Update: One man is dead after a deputy-involved shooting in Quanah Saturday morning.

A Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a call residence in town with a man with a knife about 9:15 a.m.

According to DPS Sgt. Dan Buesing, the deputy responded to the call about 10 minutes and notified Quanah communication that shots were fired.

The man was pronounced dead on scene, and the deputy was not injured.

The Hardeman County Sheriff Pat Laughery notified Texas Rangers for an investigation.

This situation is under investigation.

A family friend said the man was threatening to commit suicide while holding a knife.

Officials with the Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office and Department of Public Safety were on scene and responded to the call.
