Man Accused of Shooting Amarillo Police Officer Indicted


The man accused of shooting an Amarillo Police officer has been indicted.

Dylan Newcomer, 24, is indicted on two enhanced counts of attempt to commit capital murder of a peace officer.

Officers responded to a burglary alarm in the area of 34th and Western. Officers said when they arrived the suspect tried to run but pulled a gun.

APD officials said the suspect allegedly shot an officer and an officer shot the suspect.

Both were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Newcomer was arrested and booked into the Potter County Jail after being released from the hospital.
