UPDATE: One man arrested after standoff with APD SWAT

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — UPDATE: According to APD, on April 23, officers were given information that a wanted subject might be hiding in an apartment in the 4100 block of SW 45th, Eddison Apartments.

APD said officers made contact with the resident of the apartment, and were able to confirm that the wanted subject, Manuel Escoto, age 30, was hiding inside.

According to APD, information was obtained that Escoto might be armed and the APD Critical Incident Response Team was called out.

The area was secured by SWAT, patrol and the PACE unit, and SWAT officers and negotiators tried for several hours to get Escoto to come outside said Amarillo Police.

APD said a chemical agent was deployed and Escoto came outside and surrendered without further incident.

Escoto was arrested for his warrants for violation of a protective order, and was also charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Evading arrest or detention said APD.

APD said he was booked into the Randall County Jail, and the Violent Crimes Squad is investigating this incident.

The wanted subject was taken into custody just before 5 p.m.

APD SWAT Team is trying to get a wanted subject out of an apartment near SW 45 and Western.

Just after 3 p.m. APD was called out to The Eddison Apartments.
