Potter County Commissioners met in a closed session this morning to discuss the current state of the viruses that hit their systems earlier this month.
According to Judge Nancy Tanner, the viruses were a malicious disruption and not ransomware.
She told us it started back in January when someone opened an email out at the jail.
Today, 75 percent of the servers have been restored, and 90 percent of PC’s have been restored.
“We’re working on backup. Backup has been done every night but now they are working on the backup, trying to recover all the backup,” said Judge Tanner.
She said no personal data was compromised, and they installed an extra layer of protection to keep their system’s safe.
