Lead Investigator in Thomas Brown Case Releases Statement

CANADIAN, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) - The Thomas Brown case has gone from a missing person's case to investigators now saying there's a 90% chance it's a homicide.

Even though it's been about a year and a half since the disappearance of the Canadian teen, investigators remain hopeful.

On the "Help Find Tom Brown Facebook page," Philip Klein said in part:

"There are a few people that know what happened and it is up to them to let the real facts come out. They have all been interviewed - they have all been told that time is on the investigator's side and now is the time to come clean."

"We started a year and a half ago, November will be two years," said Jane Holmes, Interview Specialist with Klein Investigations.

"Let me just say it this way, people don't just poof disappear," said Philip Klein, Senior Investigator on Thomas Brown case.

They're back at their headquarters now but this week the Klein Investigations team spent a few days in the Panhandle to achieve two goals.

"We have two reasons why we're back in Canadian, #1 we have re-interviews that we'd like to do with some of the witnesses. Some of the witnesses have been wonderful with their information, truthful with their information, some of the witnesses haven't been. So we're going back and have a list of witnesses we're interviewing. Second, we've received numerous tips," said Klein.

Brown has been missing since late November in 2016.

Since then, we're told Klein investigations has conducted more than 150 interviews and received hundreds of tips that keep coming.

"There are three at least three persons of interest. Do we feel they have something to do with his disappearance, they could have, I don't know. But we feel very confident that they have information that could lead us to what happened," said Holmes.

Holmes said they don't think what may have happened to Brown was intentional and pre-planned.

Rather she said they think it was probably something that happened in the spur of the moment and it went very wrong.

"There was blood in the car, a. 25 caliber shell casing and that's obvious concern to us," said Klein.

And Holmes said the blood was identified as Browns.

New today, we're told Klein investigations have three sworn verbal affidavits and are efforting another on the phone.

We're told these depositions will then be sent to the office of the Texas Attorney General.

With the new information, they've received this week, investigators are still not calling this a cold case.

This week Klein Investigations conducted flight operations around the area to help them in their time distance study and evidence search.

Philip R. Klein, the lead investigator in the case of Thomas Brown released a statement today on the Help Find Tom Brown Facebook page.

Klein says:

"I would like to thank once again the citizens of Canadian Texas for all of their open arms and caring regarding this case. I would like to state that we, the investigators, do feel the citizens pain. We did have time to stop and enjoy the 4th of July Parade and meet some of you in Canadian. Thank you again for your nice comments - we do feel the town's pain and hurt over this case.

We will announce today that we were VERY productive in the case. We did conduct flight operations that helped us in the time distance study being conducted - as well as the evidence search.

We are now in the phase of obtaining sworn statements and piecing the puzzle together of the events of November 23 / 24 of 2016. It is coming together - the case is solvable. We again want all of you to remember to be careful of what you read on Facebook and rumors that run around town.

There are only two groups that know the truth on this case - and we are one of them. There is a strong reason we do not say anything in depth in this case. When it is over you will understand why. I want all of you to know that this case is again moving forward. There are a few people that know what happened and it is up to them to let the real facts come out. They have all been interviewed - they have all been told that time is on the investigator's side and now is the time to come clean. We will see how God touches their hearts.

Once again, thank you so very much to all of your comments and cooperation. And please pray for us and the OAG investigators. As well for Tom's parents and extended family. Pray always helps."
