UPDATE: Dec. 15, 12:10 p.m.

CLOVIS, N.M. (KAMR/KCIT) – The Clovis Police Department announced that two teenagers were arrested Wednesday in connection to the Tuesday afternoon shooting that occurred in the 500 block of W. 17th St.

Officials said that the silver Impala seen in security footage from the time of the shooting was seen parked in the 400 block of Hall St. on Wednesday, where a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old were found. After the execution of search warrants where guns were recovered at the home, the two teenagers were arrested in connection to the shooting and charged with “shooting at or from a motor vehicle, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy, and tampering with evidence.”

While police said there was a third person sitting in the back seat of the Impala at the time of the shooting, they have not yet been located.

Further, police said that during interviews with the teenagers, it was determined that the shooting was allegedly in retaliation to another drive-by shooting that took place in October. However, officials further said that the people impacted by the Tuesday shooting had no involvement in the alleged October shooting and that it was “a case of mistaken identity as to why they and their vehicle were shot at.”

Officials continued to request that those with information about the incident contact the Clovis Police Department by calling 575-769-1921 or on the tip411 app.
