A tragedy like this could happen anywhere, but the small town of Canadian is showing its support for the family and friends of Thomas Brown.
We spent the day at Canadian High School where Tom was a senior back in 2016 when he first disappeared.
The school held a moment of silence this morning as they learned of Tom’s remains being found yesterday. We spoke with multiple people who all told me how great of a person Tom was.
He walked halls of Canadian High School, and among many things, was involved with the theater program here. Vonya Eudy, Tom’s theater teacher, told us how the community is keeping his memory alive.
“Going into the field every year, the seniors put their names down and his name is still there. Usually, they cover it up, but it’s still there,” said Eudy.
Eudy also showed us a short clip of Tom back when he had a part in their Tom Jones production. She said he was one of the funniest students she had in her class.
There is no vigil or funeral planned yet, but of course, the community will continue to remember Tom in their own way until a service is held.
Canadian ISD’s superintendent earlier today told us counseling will be available to any student who needs it.
