AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — A man has been arrested in connection to the evening motel homicide investigation on Sunday, according to the Amarillo Police Department.

APD said was called to the Cowboy Motel at 5:54 p.m. about an aggravated assault.

According to APD, when they arrived at the scene they found a man who had been shot. Police said he later died at the scene from his injuries.  

Homicide detectives interviewed witnesses and the suspect at the scene. As a result of these interviews, Ronald Allen Austin, 64, was booked into the Potter County Jail for Murder, APD reported.

The next of kin of the victim has not been notified.

This case is still under investigation by the Amarillo Police Homicide Unit.
