AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — UPDATE: The Amarillo Police Department said of the 14 homes evacuated yesterday some people are being allowed back into their houses now as the investigation allows.
Sgt. Carla Burr, with APD, said the Bomb Team will continue to be on the scene and APD’s Bomb Investigators are taking the lead.
Sgt. Burr said securing the area could take some time as investigators work to make sure the area safe.
No other information about the suspect or the investigation has been given.
APD said traffic in the immediate area will be affected while work to secure the scene continues.
Earlier, the Amarillo Police Department (APD) reported the investigation was ongoing as of 10:35 a.m. July 27, working with federal partners to secure the scene and return evacuated residents to their homes.
“We do not believe that there is any danger to the public outside of this immediate area.” said the APD’s update report.

One man was arrested after materials used to make explosives were found in a home after firefighters were called to a home on Lenwood Drive.
The Amarillo Police Department (APD) reported that the Amarillo Fire Department was called to an explosion in the 3600 block of Lenwood Drive at around 4:07 p.m. on Monday. Responders found what appeared to be material used to make explosives, leading to the Amarillo Police Department and Bomb Team to respond at around 4:30 p.m.

Erfan Salmanzadeh, 32, was arrested at the scene for Possession of Components of Explosives. Explosive-making materials, said the APD, were found in the alley, backyard, and home.
According to Cpl. Jeb Hilton that evening, 14 homes in the area of Lenwood Drive and Lewis Lane were evacuated.
Technicians with the APD Bomb Team will continue to investigate the scene, according to police. Traffic in the immediate area is expected to be impacted throughout the day today.
“Investigators have been working with our federal partners from the FBI and Homeland Security Investigations-Amarillo Field Office, who bring more resources to assist in this investigation.” said the APD.
