Law Enforcement Finds Driver in Hardeman County Chase

CHILDRESS - There was a chase involving the Department of Public Safety (DPS) and Childress Police Department Friday, Feb 9, in Hardeman County

A DPS trooper stopped a 2007 Audi SUV for a traffic violation east of Chillicothe while it was traveling north on Hwy 287.

The vehicle fled and continued north on Hwy 287 into Childress city limits where the Childress Police Department and Sheriff’s Office assisted in stopping the vehicle.

The two passengers and driver ran from the vehicle and fled law enforcement.

They were arrested shortly after fleeing the SUV but the driver was not located.

Local prison dogs from TDCJ were called to assist with the search but were unsuccessful.

Several hours later a Childress Police Department officer located the driver at the Motel 6 in Childress.

A DPS Texas Ranger successfully talked the subject into surrendering without incident.
