The Iowa Park Police Department is accepting food and cash donations after 34 dogs were found in unsanitary living conditions.
City officials and community members gathered together Monday night to build a make-shift shelter out of recycled city goods for the dogs.
On Saturday, an officer saw a few dogs wandering around the 200 block of South Bond Street.
He entered an open door of a building, and saw numerous animals in poor conditions.
A search warrant was served Monday, and Italian Greyhounds, Rhodesian Ridge Backs and Boston Terriers were seized.
The department is investigating it as a cruelty to animals case.
The dogs are currently not available for adoption or foster care until the justice of the peace makes a decision on the case.
They are considered evidence.
