Most of us will never be competing for an Olympic medal or a professional sports championship, but if you’re a weekend warrior with a competitive streak, you might push yourself too far, too fast and end up sidelined by a sports injury — ranging from a sprained ankle to a torn ligament.
Over time, life changes. An athlete who had a successful college career might now have an office job, house, and kids, limiting time for sports. A sports injury can happen in an instant, or from repetitive activity over time. Even an old injury can flare up and cause problems. Back, neck, legs, arms, joints, muscles – any part of the body that involves movement can be affected. Many weekend warrior issues can be avoided by sensibly maintaining overall fitness, which includes focusing on flexibility, strength, stability and aerobic conditioning.
