Hometown Hero to be Laid to Rest Tomorrow


A High Plains soldier was welcomed home for the final time last week. Now, Sgt. Cameron Meddock of Spearman is being laid to rest.

Sgt. Meddock was on his second deployment with the 75th Ranger Regiment as a machine gunner.

He was injured in Afghanistan on Jan. 13 and was moved to Germany where he died from his injuries four days later.

Sgt. Meddock returned back to the High Plains late last week with a police escort from Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport to his hometown of Spearman.

His funeral service is tomorrow morning at 11:30 a.m. at the Spearman Jr. High Varsity Gym.
