Grand Jury: Officer’s actions justified in officer-involved shooting at RV park

The Potter County Grand Jury has found that the actions an officer took during an officer-involved shooting back in April were justified.

This stems from a standoff on the 900 block of South Lakeside at an RV park.

A man told police he found the suspect, later identified as Aaron Blackmon, 27, in his RV with a gun. When police arrived, they said the suspect began firing at officers. Officials said Amarillo Police returned fire and called in the Critical Incident Response Team.

About 40 minutes later, officials said the suspect started a fire in the RV which caused more rounds of ammunition to go off.

Firefighters found the suspect dead in the trailer.
