Amarillo College Celebrates World College Radio Day

Good News

Amarillo College celebrated World College Radio Day, by having dozens of former staffers return to the college broadcast booth on Friday, Oct. 5.

From 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on FM90, 89.9 FM, AC’s veteran disc jockeys took turns reminiscing about their college experiences and played their favorite tunes from back in the day.

They were also joined by students representing West Texas A&M University’s radio station.

“I told everybody to bring their vinyl, so we’ll be breaking out the turntable, for sure,” Amy Presley, audio media coordinator for FM90, said. “I think our listeners are in for a treat.”

College Radio Day was conceived in 2010 and it aims to both raise awareness and audience for the numerous college radio stations that operate worldwide.

This day has been considered “the day students radio comes together around the world.”
