Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains is excited to celebrate the start of our Panhandle Gives Giving Tuesday Campaign with a kickoff event at Gander Outdoors, a new Council community partner.

The event will take place on Monday, November 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Gander Outdoors store, located at 10300 I-40 Frontage Road.  This special evening for Girl Scout members and volunteers will include refreshments, a special discount, and a service project activity.

“Gander Outdoors is proud to be a part of the Amarillo community and we are excited to start this new venture with Girl Scouts,” said Reggie Taylor, Gander Outdoors store manager.  “We hope to share our love and passion for the outdoors with Girl Scouts and help them turn every outdoor trip into an adventure.” The Gander Outdoors partnership includes program support for outdoor education.

Studies show that girls today are not spending nearly enough time outdoors.  But at Girl Scouts, girls have plenty of opportunities to create their own outdoor adventures by earning badges, attending camp, and serving their communities.  When Girl Scouts spend quality time outdoors, they develop the life skills, grit, and resilience they will need as adults.
