Georgia Manhunt Ends With Suspect's Suicide

(NBC News)  A suspect accused of killing one Georgia police officer and wounding another in a Wednesday shooting is dead.

Minquell Kennedy Lembrick, 32, was found dead Thursday afternoon of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound inside an Americus home.

The announcement of Lembrick's death came after an intense manhunt that began shortly after officers responded to a domestic dispute an Americus apartment complex, where they found a man with a gun.

He opened fire, then fled.  A golf course and schools in the area, including Georgia Southwestern State University, were locked down.

25-year-old Nicholas Ryan Smarr, a four year veteran with the Americus Police force, died of his injuries.

The other officer, Jody Smith of the Georgia Southwestern State University Police, is in critical condition.
