(NBC News) A suspect accused of killing one Georgia police officer and wounding another in a Wednesday shooting is dead.
Minquell Kennedy Lembrick, 32, was found dead Thursday afternoon of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound inside an Americus home.
The announcement of Lembrick's death came after an intense manhunt that began shortly after officers responded to a domestic dispute an Americus apartment complex, where they found a man with a gun.
He opened fire, then fled. A golf course and schools in the area, including Georgia Southwestern State University, were locked down.
25-year-old Nicholas Ryan Smarr, a four year veteran with the Americus Police force, died of his injuries.
