Khalil Cavil has officially responded to the statement from Saltgrass COO Terry Turney.

Cavil has apologized for his role in the story and admitted to writing the message left on the receipt.

His response comes after Turney dismissed claims of a racist note left on the receipt, which read, “we don’t tip terrorist.”

 Turney said in a statement

“After further investigation, we have learned that our employee fabricated the entire story. The customer has been contacted and invited back to our restaurant to dine on us. Racism of any form is intolerable, and we will always act swiftly should it occur in any of our establishments.  Falsely accusing someone of racism is equaling disturbing,” the statement from Turney reads.

We have reached out to Saltgrass for further information regarding the specifics of this investigation.

A spokesperson from Landry’s Inc. also reached out to KMID/KPEJ, informing us that Khalil is no longer with the restaurant.
