The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) released their latest surveillance report on the Flu in Texas.

The DSHS reported that the flu activity cases rose in the Amarillo Health Service Region.

Right now Texas Department of State Health Services is reporting five types of flu that are testing positive in the state of Texas. ((Flu B (Victoria), Flu B (Yamagata), Flu B (lineage not determined), Flu A (not subtyped), Flu A (H1N1), and Flu A (H3N2))

2,897 Pneumonia & Influenza deaths have been reported in Texas during the 2017-2018 influenza season. (October 1, 2017 – January 27, 2017)

105 of those deaths were in the Amarillo Health Service Region which includes all of the Texas Panhandle.
