Family Harvests “Seeds of Hope”


(WEAU) An Eau Claire, Wisconsin family is honoring a loved one this harvest season, while cultivating money for cancer research.

Babbette’s Seeds of Hope was started as an effort to celebrate the life of a woman who lost her nine-year battle with cancer.

A stretch of sunflowers was planted this summer along Highway 85 south of Eau Claire in memory of Babbette Jaquish.

On Tuesday Babbette’s family and volunteers started harvesting the first acres of sunflower seeds.

“She was a special lady and she might not like all the attention, but she deserves it,” Don Jaquish said as he stood in his farm field reminiscing about his wife.
