Every Drop Counts Poster Contest Begins

PRESS RELEASE: The summer months are rapidly approaching and the need to conserve water rises with the heat. In the hopes of increasing awareness of this need, the City of Amarillo’s Every Drop Counts Water Conservation Team is now accepting submissions for the 2018 Every Drop Counts Poster Contest! To enter the contest, children ages K-12th grade may submit their personal artwork depicting water conservation.

Winners will be chosen from the following age groups (school year 2018 – 2019): K through 2nd grade, 3rd through 5th grade, Middle School, and High School. Prizes will be awarded for the posters that best convey the spirit of the “Every Drop Counts” theme. The Grand Prize winner will be awarded a Kindle Fire, donated by Best Buy of Amarillo. Other grand prizes include:
-Party at AirU for 10 (awarded to winner of K through 2nd grade).
-Pool Party at the Warford Activity Center (awarded to winner of 3rd through 5th grade).
-Passes to Wonderland Park for you and four friends (awarded to winners from Middle School and High School).

Deadline for submissions is at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 1.

Additionally, all 12 winners will be recognized by the Mayor and Amarillo City Council at the Tuesday, Aug. 14 regular meeting and their artwork will be reproduced in a 2019 Every Drop Counts Calendar.
