Amarillo - UPDATE:
The Amarillo Fire Marshal's Office has determined the cause of last night's fire as improper discarding of hot ashes from a wood-burning stove.
Damage is estimated to be $60,000.
An elderly woman is dead following a fire at a mobile home late last night.
Amarillo Fire Department was called to a structure fire at 4702 Hawk Lane at 10:33 p.m. last night.
According to officials, the first crews arrived at the mobile home at 10:39 p.m. to find a home with heavy fire on the back porch and the exterior.
Amarillo Fire officials say while one crew worked on extinguishing the fire, another crew went into the home and found the elderly woman face down on the floor in the back bedroom.
Firefighters took the woman outside and immediately sent her to the hospital.
According to Captain Larry Davis, crews were able to get the fire under control by 11:51 p.m.
Fire officials tell us the woman was pronounced dead shortly after she arrived at the hospital.
The Amarillo Fire Marshal's Office says the fire started at the back porch.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
