EF-0 tornado touches down in Lee County, Alabama — spotted in wedding photo

OPELIKA, Ala. (WIAT) — Intense thunderstorms hit parts of Lee County Saturday afternoon with large hail and even a tornado.

National Weather Service radar confirmed a tornado just before 7 p.m. in areas near Opelika and Beauregard.

The twister that touched down packed winds of 85 miles per hour, toppling trees and damaging homes, and was spotted in the background of a photo of newlyweds. The photo was shared with CBS 42 by Holly Murphree.

Thankfully, no one was injured.
