Dumas Fire Department to demolish burned building ahead of strong winds

Dumas firefighters worked late into last night after a building caught on fire in town.

Fire officials were called to the corner of 7th street and Porter Avenue on a structure fire at about 8:30 last night.

The fire was under control about an hour later.

The building had previously been unoccupied and boarded up.

Dumas Fire Chief Ronald Pray says the building is not safe as several parts of the building collapsed during the fire.

We’re told they will have to finish collapsing the rest of the building ahead of today’s strong winds.

Officials are not sure what started the fire, but are urging anyone with information to call the Dumas FireChief.

The fire is under investigation.
