Drug Use Is Rising, And So Is The Rate Of Syphilis


Drug abuse and syphilis are both on the rise could they be linked?

Medical officers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report the collision of two major health issues with an intersection between drug use and syphilis among women and straight men.

Researchers are suggesting that drug use could lead to more unsafe sexual encounters.

Noting the record-high syphilis rates and the doubling of methamphetamine, heroin and other drug use from 2013 to 2017.

Researchers are correlating this collision of public health issues to the rise of syphilis during the crack cocaine epidemic of the 1980’s and 1990’s.
