DPS Seizes Marijuana After Car Fire

Friday night, a DPS trooper pulled over to help with a car fire on I-40 near Groom, in Gray County.
 
The trooper arrived on scene and observed a 2016 Hyundai Tucson on fire and a female standing outside the vehicle.  
 
The female had removed four gift-wrapped boxes, a suitcase and a dog from inside the vehicle.  
 
During the investigation, a DPS canine unit was called and alerted on the boxes.  The trooper conducted a search of the boxes and discovered 28 vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana that weighed 26 pounds.
 
The driver of the Hyundai, 47-year-old Judith Amerson,of Lemoore, Calif., was arrested, booked into the Gray County jail and charged with felony possession of marijuana. 
 
The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Lemoore, Calif., to Peoria, Ill.
