A 16-year-old boy was arrested by Lubbock Police Sunday morning following a shooting incident that left his father dead and his mother injured.
According to Lubbock Police, the incident occurred at 4721 43rd Street at 12:04 a.m.
The police report on the incident states the father and mother were involved in a violent domestic disturbance. The teenager son discharged a firearm at his father, striking him and causing his death. The mother was inadvertently struck by a bullet. She was transported to a Covenant Medical Center for medical attention.
The teenager told authorities he feared his father was going to harm his mother.
The victim has been identified as Timothy Brian Lester, 37, of Lubbock.
The teenager, who was not identified, was transported to the Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center for processing.

Lubbock Police Homicide Detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred inside a residence in the 4700 block of 43rd Street.
This morning, Sunday, October 11, 2015, at approximately 12:04 a.m., patrol officers responded to a shots fired/domestic violence call at a residence in the 4700 block of 43rd Street. Officers arrived and found two gunshot victims, one adult male and one adult female in the residence. The couple was married. The male was pronounced dead at the scene and the female was transported to Covenant Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
LPD Detectives were called to the scene to investigate. A sixteen year old male, the victims’ son, was arrested and transported to the Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center.
