(KUSA) Six Denver sheriff’s deputies are on restricted duty while authorities investigate an incident at the downtown jail involving an inmate who later died.
50-year-old Michael Marshall was arrested November 7 for trespassing and disturbing the peace.
The November 11 incident happened in a sally port outside the jail’s Special Management Unit where Marshall was housed. The sheriff described the area as a breezeway with locked doors on both ends. He would not elaborate on any details of what happened, but he did say he has reviewed video of what occurred.
“I’ve met with the Marshall family, and I’ve reassured them that we are committed to doing a thorough and fair investigation,” Sheriff Patrick Firman said. He also offered the family his condolences.
Marshall’s relatives they say they are frustrated authorities won’t let them view video of the incident. Officials say they will release it when the investigation is complete.
