(NBC News) With loud voices and signs raised, thousands took part in “A Day Without Immigrants” protests across the United States Thursday.
Immigrants across the country boycotted work, school and the buying, and shopping, showing how essential immigrants are to our community and economy.
The protest comes in response to President Trump’s promise for strict immigration reform. At issue: His plan to build a wall along the Mexican border and stepped up deportations of undocumented immigrants.
Protesters are also speaking out against the president’s executive order banning travelers from seven Muslim-majority countries.
