(NBC News) National Transportation Safety Board investigators are working to determine the cause of Thursday’s deadly New Jersey train crash.
Witnesses say the train never seemed to slow down before slamming into a crowded platform.
One person, 34-year-old Fabiola Bittar De Kroon, was killed in the crash and more than 100 others were injured. De Kroon was standing on the platform, where she was killed by falling debris.
NTSB agents hope to get key data from the from the train’s “black box” recorder.
Agents also hope to learn more from the train’s engineer. 48-year old Tommy Gllagher has already talked with police.
Senior officials briefed on the investigation tell NBC News they’ve found no “red flags’ in his past: No infractions, no medical issues and no criminal history.
