Community Counts, BluePrint for Amarillo’s neighborhood plan initiative, will host a second public meeting to gather input from the residents of the North Heights Neighborhood to assist with future planning and development needs.

The goal of this initiative is to assist distressed and disadvantaged areas of Amarillo by working with neighborhood citizens to shape healthy, sustainable communities.

The next neighborhood plan meeting for the North Heights residents is Thursday, April 14 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Amarillo United Citizen’s Forum located at 901 N. Hayden.

Public input is instrumental in creating the North Heights neighborhood plan in order to determine the goals of the residents and what strategies will be effective in achieving those objectives. Recurring public meetings will be held as the plan develops before being implemented.

Topics that could be discussed include housing, transportation, public safety, social services, infrastructure, health services, economic development, and character/image among others. City staff will be on hand as residents learn more about the neighborhood planning process while joining in the discussion in order to gather valuable input to help identify specific neighborhood desires.
