It’s two days set aside to help make miracles happen with just a phone call.
For several years, Children’s Miracle Network has partnered with various radio stations in our area for their Miracle Up Radiothon.
Whether you’re a little bit country or a mix of everything, listeners of Mix 94.1 and 101.9 The Bull, will be all ears for a great cause.
“We are here to promote Children’s Miracle Network with Town Square Media. We have families coming in all throughout the day that will be sharing their stories Live on the air. We have some prerecorded stories that are a little bit different, just kind of sharing with the community what CMN does and how we’re able to affect the lives of sick kids and their families,” said Jodi Reid, Children’s Miracle Network Director.
Folks tuned in, are encouraged to call and help make donations.
The money collected will help further the mission of Children’s Miracle Network of Amarillo.
Reid says Radiothon has been going on for three decades.
And one of their radio partners tells us she’s been part of the fundraiser for more than half those years.
“We do Children’s Miracle Network Radiothon and that’s why we’re here, we’re here to raise money for CMN and this will be my 16th Radiothon. The reason I love this organization so much is the money raised it stays local. It doesn’t go anywhere else it stays local to help our kids here in the Texas Panhandle,” said Lori Crofford, Mix 94.1.
For 12 hours today and tomorrow, both radio stations will share stories of local children, their miracle journey, and the impact of CMN.
And for this DJ, he says he’s seen the importance first hand.
“I had the chance to go over to hospital the other day and they took me into the NICU, the Neonatal Intensive Care. And when you see those kids fighting for their lives and then you realize how good you have it. That you’re up and that you’re walking around and that you’re breathing on your own, it really puts it into perspective for ya,” said Braden Smith, 101.9 The Bull.
Radiothon started at seven this morning and ends tonight at seven. But it picks back up again on Friday at 7 a.m.
There will also be volunteers outside Sam’s Club on Soncy collecting donations through Friday.
To help celebrate Radiothon, Children’s Miracle Network will host their Miracle Up Festival at the Discovery Center.
It’s tomorrow night from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
There will be live music, food trucks, drinks, and fun for all ages.
