Clovis Man Found Guilty of Voluntary Manslaughter

News

A Clovis man has been found guilty of voluntary manslaughter.

Darryl Turner, 31, received that verdict from a Curry County jury.

Officials said David McDonald was shot by Turner on Sep. 5, 2017, at the Clovis Apartments.

After the shooting, Turner fled to California, where he was arrested on unrelated charges and extradited back to New Mexico.

The judge has ordered sentencing be held at a later date.

The Ninth Judicial District Attorney’s Office said Turner faces at least six years in prison and could have his sentence enhanced by prior felony convictions.
