A Clovis man is convicted for fleeing from police.

Brandon Cordova,36, was convicted by a Curry County jury for Aggravated Fleeing a Law Enforcement Officer.

In March of 2017, Cordova led an officer in a car chase reaching speeds up to approximately 55 mph. Cordova swerved around cars and drove into oncoming traffic.

The officer had to terminate the pursuit for safety purposes and located Cordova at a later date.

During the trial, the defense called up a witness who testified that he had actually been the driver that day. However, on rebuttal, the State presented evidence that this witness had been paid for his testimony.

The Honorable Fred Van Soelen presided over the one-day trial and ordered that sentencing be held at a later date. Cordova is facing up to five and a half years in the Department of Corrections.
