City of Howardwick files lawsuit against own volunteer fire department

The City of Howardwick has filed a lawsuit against its own volunteer fire department.

The city is claiming several emergency response vehicles owned and maintained by the city has been transferred to the fire department.

Because of the error, the city can no longer provide insurance for those vehicles.

As part of the suit, the city is seeking a restraining order against the fire department to stop using the vehicles until the titling issues are resolved.

In the petition, the city claims the titles were signed over by a former city employee who was not cleared to sign the documents.
