Carson County DPS Chase Ends in Amarillo

DPS Trooper stopped a vehicle on I-40 West in Carson County near Conway just before 8 a.m. for a traffic violation. 

The vehicle pulled over onto the improved shoulder and stopped. Once the Trooper exited the patrol unit, the suspect vehicle fled. 

The Trooper got back into the patrol unit and attempted to get the vehicle to stop. The suspect refused to stop and continued to evade Law Enforcement into Potter County.

At 8:13 a.m., the vehicle exited I-40 West at Ross/Osage and came to a stop when it crashed into another vehicle in the parking lot of the Amarillo Inn & Suites. 

The driver exited the vehicle bare-footed and fled from Troopers and Amarillo Police Department officers. The suspect fell to the ground and was apprehended. 

The 18-year-old Nicholas Owens and female passenger were transported to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.

Owens was arrested and charged with evading in a vehicle (felony). Owens was transported and booked into the Potter County Jail.

The female passenger was released with no charges filed.
