Scientists think they found a way to turn cancerous cells back into healthy tissue.
Their lab-based work suggests there is a biological step that may restore the normality to cancer cells and stop them from replicating out of control.
Researchers added molecules called micro-RNA’s to cancer cells.
And it put the brakes on cancer cell replication.
These early tests look promising but much more work is needed before they will know if this could help treat cancer patients.
Mayo Clinic researchers are hopeful this new avenue could possibly apply to all types of cancer.
Findings appear in the journal ‘Nature Cell Biology.’
