Researchers at the University of Hawaii say island tourism is at a “tipping point.”

Increased numbers in visitors are straining resources in the Aloha State.

Something experts say is “damaging the quality of life for residents and negatively impacting general economic vitality.”

Researchers say problems will continue unless tourism management officials step in highlighting additional areas of focus including Less money spent by tourists and congestion at popular tourist attractions.

A record 10-million tourists visited Hawaii last year.
