There have been a number of editorial cartoons about the passing of former president George H.W. Bush, but one, in particular, is getting a lot of attention.
It was drawn by editorial cartoonist Marshall Ramsey of the Mississippi Clarion-Ledger.
The drawing depicts the war veteran after getting off a plane meeting his wife Barbara and daughter Robin at the pearly gates.
The caption reads “we waited for you.”
On Monday, Marshall spoke about when he heard of the president’s passing.
Editorial Cartoonist Marshall Ramsey said, “Friday I’m asleep in my chair like most boring people and my wife comes in and shakes me and says wake up, George Bush has passed away and I was really sad. Number one it says a lot when you think a 94-year-old has been taken too soon.”
Ramsey says the Bush family has already reached out to thank him for his drawing.
When former First Lady Barbara Bush died in April, Ramsey created a memorial illustration that also went viral.
